• Dujiangyan Irrigation Project

  The Dujiang Irrigation Project is located near the town of Guanxian on the upper reaches of the Minjiang River, 59 kilometers west of Chengdu City. In order to prevent catastrophic flooding, this project was constructed by the Shu Prefecture leader Li Bing in the Warring States Period (475-221BC) during the reign of King Zhaowang of the Qin State. • Emei Mountain

  The Emei Mountain, located in the southwest of Emei County, Sichuan Province, is one of the Four Buddhist Shrines in China. Such a beautiful mountain has been described as "a beauty spot under heaven" by Chinese men of lettered since ancient times. The mountain is characterized with its stiff cliffs, high rising peaks, rotating waterfalls, gurgling springs, towering ancient trees and fragrant flowers. • Wolong National Natural Reserve

  Set up in 1963, the Wolong Nature Reserve in Chengdu city boasts more than 6,000 species of plants and animals. It is also taking the responsibility of the protection of the giant panda, red panda, takin, and golden snub-nose monkey. • Thatched Cottage of Du Fu

  Du Fu was a renowned poet in Tang Dynasty (618AD-907AD). In 759, when it was a period of considerable social upheavals, at his age of 47, he was exiled to Chengdu from Gansu Province just north of Chengdu. When staying at Chengdu, Du Fu had a simple cottage constructed on the bank of a small, idyllic brook (Huanhua Brook, or "Flower Bathing Brook"). View Photos

• Wuhou Memorial Temple

  Originally, the temples have been built in the 6th century to commemorate two important historical figures, Liu Bei (161AD-223AD), the Emperor of the Kingdom of Shu during the Three Kingdoms (220AD-280AD) dynastic period (besides the Kingdom of Shu there were the Kingdoms of Wei (220AD-265AD) and of Wu (229AD-280AD), and Zhuge Liang (181AD-234AD), the capable military strategist appointed by Emporer Liu Bei to defend the kingdom. When Liu Bei died in 223, his son, Liu Shan (207AD-271AD) assumed power in the Kingdom of Shu, retaining General Zhuge Liang with the powers of a Regent to defend the kingdom. View Photos

• Jiuzhaigou Valley

  Jiuzhaigou Valley, also crowned as the “Wonderland on Earth”, lies in the Nanping County, in north of Sichuan, a province in south western China. As it is surrounded by nine Tibetan villages, hence get the name. It is known for its many multilevel waterfalls and colorful lakes.  In 1992, Jiuzhaigou Valley was enlisted as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It is also a nature reserve and national park.
