By Air

The Dun Huang airport is located at the place 13 km east of the Dunhuang City. There are about 38 domestic flights weekly connecting Dun Huang with Urumqi, Lanzhou, Xi'an and Beijing cities etc. From the airport to downtown Dunhuang, Taxi is the most convenient vehicle. The starting rate for taxies in Dunhuang ranges from CNY5 to CNY10 depending on the type of taxi.

By train

In Dunhuang, two railway stations are available for you. They are the Dunhuang Railway Station and the Liuyuan Railway Station. Dunhuang Railway Station is about 15 kilometers away from the downtown area. Trains leaving from this station connect Dunhuang with Jiayuguan, Xi'an, Lanzhou, Yinchuan. It takes you about 20 minutes from city center to the railway station by minibus. The price is about CNY3. Liuyuan Railway Station is located at Anxi County, 128 km north of Dun Huang, there are direct railways to shanghai, Beijing, Zhengzhou and Xi'an etc. In the square in front of Liuyuan Railway Station, there are minibuses and taxies which can take you to downtown area. The minibus usually charges CNY30 per person and Taxies may charge CNY100 per car.

By Bus

The network of highways inside the Dun Huang area radiates in all directions. There are two main bus stations in Dunhuang: Dunhuang Bus Station and Dunhuang Passenger Transport Center. Dunhuang Bus Station offers buses to Xining, Hami, Turpan, Urumqi and Golmud, etc. Dunhuang Passenger Transport Center offers local services between Dunhuang and other cities or regions inside GansuProvince, including Lanzhou, Jiayuguan, Zhangye, Jiuquan and Wuwei, etc.
