Sanya Geography

Lying between 18 09′ and 18 37′ latitude, Sanya is located in the southernmost tip of Hainan Island. Sanya has an area of 1919.6 square kilometers with six gorgerous bays. It boasts the best white-sand beach and turquoise sea water in Asia. Sanya has the coastline of 209.1kilometers with 19harbors. The highest elevation in Sanya is Luhuitou Peak Park that overlooks the whole city.

The southern coast has several sandy beaches. Yalong, Dadonghai, Sanya, Haitang, and Yazhou are the five major bays in Sanya. At the southernmost point is Jingmu Cape, which is a popular sunset viewing point. Yalong beach is one of the most popular tourist spots attracting numerous tourists to feel its wide and long beach, as well as white sand.

In recent years, more and more tourists come to beaches of Sanya to take fresh air, soak up the sun and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Driving along beaches on a rented car has become a very unique way to visit Sanya.
