Located in the southeast of Wuwei City, Wuwei Confucian Temple is also known as the Wenmiao Temple in Chinese. This ancient complex was established during Ming Dynasty. The construction of the original temple lasted two years, later it was expanded over the following centuries. Covering an area of more than 1,500 square meters, this temple is the largest and best-preserved temple in honor of Confucius in Gansu Province.
In ancient times, Wuwei took a strategic position on the famous Silk Road. The tomb is a large brick-chambered tomb of late Eastern Han Dynasty discovered by local farmers in 1969 beneath an old locust tree. Now it has become a main tourist attraction in the city. The tomb is situated in Leitai Park, hence got this name.
