Beijing boasts of a well-developed commerce system based on diversified operation and multiple circulations. Well-known, new and special products from all over China and the world are available in Beijing. The newly central business district, Beijing CBD, centered at the Guomao area, is home to various corporate regional headquarters, shopping precincts, and high-end housing. The traditional financial centre, Beijing Financial Street, located in the Fuxingmen and Fuchengmen area. Major shopping districts are located in the Wangfujing and Xidan areas. Zhongguancun, dubbed "China's Silicon Valley", remains a major centre in electronics- and computer-related industries, as well as pharmaceuticals-related research. Meanwhile, Yizhuang, located to the southeast of the urban area, is a new centre in pharmaceuticals, IT, and materials engineering. All kinds of pirated goods and other things can be found in markets of urban Beijing often welcomed by expatriates and international visitors.
The agriculture in Beijing witnessed a comprehensive development. The rural economy made a well-coordinated headway in farming, forestry, stock raising, sideline production, fishery, rural industry, construction, transportation, and commerce and service trade. Agriculture is carried out outside the urban area of Beijing, with wheat and maize (corn) being the main crops. Vegetables are also grown in the regions closer to the urban area in order to supply the city.
