Guilin Overview

Located in the northeast of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on the west bank of the Li River, Guilin has long been renowned for its unique scenery of verdant mountains, green waters, magnificent crags and wonderful caverns.

Guilin is also an important cultural city with a history of more than 2,000 years. Since Song Dynasty, the city has been the political, economic and cultural center of Guangxi. For thousands of years, Guilin has remained one of China’s greenest and scenic cities and still be treated as an ideal tourist resort. There are other scenic spots around Guilin city, such as Yangshuo, where you go, you will get more surprise.

The major scenic spots of Guilin include Elephant Trunk Hill, Li River, Reed Flute Cave, Solitary Beauty Peak, and Seven-Star Park. Believe that each of these places and many other attractions will give you unforgettable impression.

On this mysterious land, there are many ethnic minorities which include the Zhuang, Yao, Hui, Miao, Mulao and Maonan. Each minority has its own customs and festivals, which can be enjoyed at the Li River Folk Customs Center.

 

Guilin Districts

Guilin covers an area of 27,809 square km and administers 17 county-level divisions, which are listed in the following:

Five city districts: Xiufeng District, Xiangshan District, Diecai District, Qixing District, Yanshan District.

Ten counties: Lingui County, Yangshuo County, Lingchuan County, Xing'an County, Quanzhou County, Yongfu County, Ziyuan County, Guanyang County, Pingle County, Lipu County. And two autonomous counties: Gongcheng Yao Autonomous County, Longsheng Autonomous County.
