Seafood

Traveling in Haikou, you will find Haikou dishes do feature a lot of seafood and unusual fish. Mussels, eel and crab all feature largely on menus throughout town. Famed for its tough shell and fresh and tender meat, Hele Crab is a particularly tasty Haikou dish and a good place to enjoy this is in the Heyou Seafood Restaurant. Other famous local specialties include Wenchang Chicken, Dongshan Mutton and Jaiji Duck.

The most famous Chongqing Hotpot is also popular here and there are some good family style restaurants around town serving up cheap hot pot which is becoming increasingly popular here. Jichang Road, Longhua Road and Longkun Road are good streets to hunt around for this kind of thing. Taguang Hotpot Restaurant and Bailong South Road specializes in Hainan local hotpot and lamb hot pot.

If you are looking for local snacks, Bo’ai South Road is your first choice to have a chance to take Hainan Rice Noodle and the tasty fried dumplings.
