By plane

Hangzhou, as the capital of Zhejiang province and one of China's chief tourism cities, Hangzhou has scheduled flights connecting flights to and from major cities and bigger tourist cities in China. Also, Hangzhou offers flights to and from Hong Kong and Singapore. The airport is situated 27km from downtown Hangzhou. A public bus costs RMB20 from the city center to the airport. Large hotels may have free service to the airport, but this is, of course for guests only.

By train

Hangzhou is a large traffic terminal in eastern China. The city is the starting point for several routes such as Zhejiang-Jiangxi, Hangzhou-Ningbo, and the Zhejiang-Changsha lines as well as the end point for the Shanghai-Hangzhou line. The train station here has recently been renovated and is a huge but efficient place. It takes about 10 minutes from city center to the station, and costs around RMB20-30.

By boat

Boat is available from Hangzhou to Suzhou or Wuxi along the Grand Canal. When planning to travel by boat, travelers should check the schedual.

By bus

Situated at the heart of Zhejiang's highway network, Hangzhou is connected with Shanghai and Nanjing by major highways. The city has four long distance bus stations: East, West, South and North bus station, which are convenient for travelers to go their destination.

City transport

In Hangzhou city, there are more than 30 bus routes. Among them, buses No. 228, No. 258 and No. 8 are all-night, at intervals of 30 minutes. Taxi is another convenient vehicle in Hangzhou. Hangzhou has plentiful taxis for hire. And also, the taxi drivers are always enthusiasm and helpful for strangers. They are honest and will take you the fastest route. Another nice way to get around is by bike! Most hotels have bikes for hire by the day.
