Lhasa is the capital of Tibet Autonomous Region and the center of Tibet's political, economic, cultural and religious activities. With a history of more than 1,300 years, it is the highest capital in the world. Lhasa literally means "place of the gods", although ancient Tibetan documents and inscriptions demonstrate that the place was called Rasa, which means "goat's place".

Potala Palace : Potala Palace, situated on the Red Hill in Lhasa, means "the Sacred Palace of Buddhism" in Sanskrit.
Jokhang Temple : Located on Barkhor Square in Lhasa, the Jokhang Temple is the first Buddhist temple in Tibet. It is also the Sacred Temple of all Tibetan Buddhists.
Drepung Monastery : Located at the foot of Mount Gephel Drepung Monastery, Drepung Monastery is one of the "great three" Gelukpa university monasteries of Tibet.-
Ganden Monastery: The Ganden Monastery was built by Tsong Khapa, the founder of Gelugpa (the Yellow Sect of Lamaism) of the Tibetan Lamaism, in the 7th year (1409) during the Yongle reign of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
