China 56 ethnical groups exist and more than 80 languages and dialects respectively, and some 30 different kinds of letters. Among all of them is Mandarin or “Putonghua”, which is derived from the Bejing dialect, most common. Mandarin is also one of the six official languages in the world, hence also spoken officially in the U. N. This language belongs to the Sino-Tibetan family of languages. It evolved out of an old language, spanning a period of more than 6.000 years. In the modern language one can differentiate between two forms: the common language, Mandarin and diverse dialects, that is   The Hui and Manchu people use the same language and writing like the Han Chinese. The remaining 53 ethnical groups own their respective languages or dialects, even though some of them can speak Mandarin as well. With the support and encouragement of the Chinese government all these languages are protected for the common good and to develop in harmony.
