Jan 2009 Day 01 Beijing (D) You will be welcomed in Beijing, the capital and cultural center of China, where virtually every boulevard and building exudes an air of importance. Transfer on arrival to your 4-star hotel. Visit the Yonghe Palace in the afternoon, the most renowned Tibetan Buddhist temple in China, outside Tibet itself. Stay in hotel 2 nights. Enjoy a full-day tour of the sights that make Beijing a spectacular destination: The Summer Palace, an oasis of tea gardens, pavilions, painted corridors, and shimmering Kunming Lake with Empress Dowager's eccentric marble boat. Badaling Great Wall, one of the world's most awe-inspiring sights, the great Wall snakes along nearly 4000 miles of impossibly steep hills and harsh, rugged plains. Today you will climb Badaling Great Wall in your leisure and marvel at the manpower that went into building the world's longest structure entirely by hand. Taste your imperial-style Peking duck dinner before returning to hotel. Day 03 Beijing - Xi’an (BLD) Today you will enjoy the sprawling Forbidden City, home to 24 Ming and Qing emperors and now a repository of precious art and antiques; Tiananmen Square, the largest man-made square in the world. And have a visit to the Temple of Heaven, The Temple was completed in 1420 and was originally a platform for the Son of Heaven (the emperor) to perform sacrifices and solemn rites. Take overnight train to Xi’an. Day 04 Xi'an (BLD) Arrive in Xi’an in the morning,is a vital center of history, culture and archaeology. It is impossible to overstate Xi'an's importance in China's history. Here began the fabled Silk Road, here a string of dynasties made their capital, here a Neolithic culture built a village 6000 years ago, and here lies a highlight of your trip: the excavation site of 8000terra-cotta soldiers and horses, buried around the tomb of emperor Qinshihuangdi, builder of the Great Wall and other massive endeavors. Round out your tour with stops at the Museum of Terra-Cotta Warriors and Horses of Qinshihuangdi and Big Wild Goose Pagoda, built by pilgrim monk Xuanzang in the Tang Dynasty 1400 years ago. Stay in 4-star hotel 3 nights. Day 05 Xi'an (BLD) After breakfast, take bus to the local families and help them prepare the Eve of Chinese Spring Festival with the Chinese. Such as stick couple lets, wrap dumplings… It will be full of enjoyment. Stay with local people. Day 06 Xi'an (BLD) After lunch, go back to Xi’an. In the afternoon, you will visit the Great Mosque in the downtown, one of the most famous mosques in the country. This morning is on your own, fly to Shanghai, the largest and most cosmopolitan city, as modern as any in the world. Make a visit to the Nanjing Road, the most famous shopping street in Shanghai. Stay in hotel 2 nights.
You have a full-day visit of Yuyuan Garden with its quintessential Chinese zigzag bridges, rockeries, and pavilions; the Old Town and Jade Buddha Temple. Also have a visit to the riverfront Bund where foreign traders left a legacy ofEuropean-style buildings. At night you will enjoy a thrilling show of the Shanghai acrobats.
