The Highest Railway on the Roof of the World  


According to China Railway Department’s report, Qinghai—Tibet Railway will be open on July 1, 2006. The trains will start from three cities, Beijing, Xining and Chengdu (Chongqing) to Tibet respectively. The price of train ticket is confirmed.

The train T27/8 to Lhasa via Xi’an from Beijing (starting at Beijing West Railway Station, 4064km long) takes 47 hours and 28 minutes. The price of train ticket is 389Yuan in RMB(Hard Seat), 813Yuan in RMB(Down Hard Sleeper) and 1262Yuan in RMB(Down Soft Sleeper).
The train N917/8 to Lhasa from Xining(1972km long) takes 20 hours and 07 minutes. The train ticket costs 226Yuan in RMB(Hard Seat), 523Yuan in RMB(Down Hard Sleeper) and 810Yuan in RMB(Down Soft Sleeper).

The train T22/3 andT24/1 to Lhasa via Baoji from Chengdu(3360km long) take 48 hours and 10 minutes, and 48 hours and 50 minutes respectively. The train ticket is331Yuan in RMB(Hard Seat), 712Yuan in RMB(Down Hard Sleeper) and 1104Yuan in RMB(Down Soft Sleeper).

The train T222/3 and T224/1 to Lhasa via Xi’an and Baoji from Chongqing(3654km long) take 47 hours and 08 minutes, and 48 hours and 50 minutes respectively. The train ticket is355Yuan in RMB(Hard Seat), 754Yuan in RMB(Down Hard Sleeper) and 1168Yuan in RMB(Down Soft Sleeper).

Some of them begin to sell tickets to the visitors. The visitors should hold efficient certification and Guest Health Card before they step into the train.
