Kaili is a city in the Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture in Guizhou province in China. It has a population of approximately 450,000. The area is 1306 km2. A significant population of Miao and Gejia live in Kaili. Kaili is host to more than 120 Miao festivals throughout the year. 。。。。。。
The population of this ethnic group in China is 2,960,293. Situated no more than 300 km north of the Tropic of Cancer, the area peopled by the Dongs has a mild climate and an annual rainfall of 1,200 mm. The Dong people grow enormous numbers of timber trees which are logged and sent to markets. Tong-oil and lacquer and oil-tea camellia trees are also grown for their edible oil and varnish.
A significant population of Miao and Gejia (officially classified as Miao) live in Kaili. Kaili is host to more than 120 Miao festivals throughout the year. The arts and crafts of the Miao, including jewelry, embroidery, brocade, batik, and papercutting, are renowned.
Legend has it that Leigongshan is rumored as the place where the God of Thunder (means Leigong in Chinese) lives. Every summer, thunderstorms can be heard resounding on the mountains, hence it got the name Leigong Mountain.
The cave differs in thousands of ways. It is dangerous, wonderful, quiet and beautiful. The sinuous paths on the upper buildings are twisting and turning. The stalactite forming the shape of birds and beasts is lifelike. The spring water flows from the cave and became the brook.
